Queridos amigos:
Comienza la segunda quincena de diciembre. Decido compartir con todos, por esta via, estas líneas que he enviado por escrito a muchos amigos, respondiendo a sus cartas llenas de solidaridad y de aliento.
René está en libertad, pero es una libertad más que condicionada; es una libertad en peligro constante para su integridad física; es una libertad sin poder tener a su lado a Olguita y a sus hijas; es una libertad sin libertad.
Gerardo continúa bajo las terribles condiciones de la penitenciaria, las cuales conozco muy bien, soportando con férrea entereza las injustas cadenas perpetuas, sin poder recibir la visita de Adriana.
La presentación del Habeas Corpus llega a su final. Una respuesta pudiera producirse a comienzos del próximo año. Me pregunto: ¿Qué podría responder la jueza Lenard?
Con la participación de amigos de todo el mundo, en Holguín, se efectuó el VII Coloquio por nuestra liberación. Una vez más el éxito de este evento nos llena de fuerzas y demuestra que la solidaridad crece.
Son estas algunas de las cosas con las que el 2011 llega a su final, en medio de un mundo que "no puede más, se muere de dolor" y nos pide acudir corriendo a su auxilio para salvar la humanidad de tanto egoísmo, que nos lleva, como afirmo Fidel, "de forma inexorable, hacia una catástrofe definitiva y total".
En nuestra amada patria, muchos son los retos que tenemos por delante para fortalecer la Revolución socialista. Nuestro pueblo unido, con la dignidad y el heroísmo que lo caracteriza, jamás le fallara a su historia, a Fidel y a Raúl.
Poder tener a mis dos hijos en una visita ha sido lo más maravilloso que me ha sucedido en estos 13 años de prisión.
Con eterno agradecimiento por su apoyo, en nombre de los cinco, les deseo un ¡Feliz Año Nuevo 2012!
Siempre optimistas, reitero: ¡Venceremos!

Dear friends,
Second half of December has started.
I decide to share with you this message that I have sent to many friends, answering their words of solidarity and encouragement.
Rene is free, but it is a freedom with many conditions; it is a freedom where he is in constant physical danger; it is a freedom without being able to have Olguita and his daughters next to him; it is a freedom without freedom.
Gerardo continues under the terrible conditions of a penitentiary, something I know very well. His strength remains high against the injustice of the double life sentence and despite not being able to receive visits from Adriana.
Our Habeas Corpus process is reaching its end. Perhaps in the beginning of next year we will receive an answer. I am wondering what Judge Lenard's response will be?.
It gave great strength to us to hear about the participation of many friends from all over the world who attended the VII Colloquium for our freedom in Holguin. Once again the success of this yearly event shows that the struggle for our cause is growing.
These are some of the things as 2011 ends with, in the middle of a world that cannot take it anymore and is dying of pain. It is a world that is asking us tu run to help it in order to save humanity from so much selfishness; a world that is taking us, as Fidel affrimed, "in a relentless pace, towards a definitive and total catastrophe".
For me, the recent visit of my two sons has been the most wonderful thing that has happened to me in these 13 years of imprisonment.
